Republicans, please join us at the upcoming meeting of the Lee District Republican Committee on Tuesday, July 13th at the John Marshall Library, 6209 Rose Hill Drive, Alexandria 22310; social time at 6:30 pm, meeting at 7:00 pm.
Click on "read more" to read a great letter that was written by David Smith and sent June 13 to Senators Webb and Warner. I think it makes pretty clear the dissatisfaction Virginians have with the actions of our Senators.
It's time to work together to change Washington, by sending Republicans there from across the Commonwealth!
June 13, 2010
Open Letter to:
Senator James Webb Senator Mark Warner
Washington, DC
Dear Senators:
The purpose of this letter it to let you know how you are doing as United States Senators in representing the residents of the Commonwealth of Virginia. In short, you both are failures! Here is why:
The basic problem is that you have not been listening to your constituents! You still are NOT listening!
We do not want many of the things you have been doing and the things you still want to do. When I say, “we” I mean the majority of your constituents in Virginia, as well as the majority of residents throughout the United States.
You have not independently represented the welfare of the residents of Virginia, you have only served to be a “lap dog” for a socialist/Marxist President who is trying to ruin our country and make it into a European socialist society. It is very clear that the European model does not work, as recently evidenced by Greece, Hungary, Portugal, Spain, the U.K. and others. Universal health care has failed and is failing in France, the UK, and now in Canada. It is time to wake up and return to smaller government, less spending, lower debt, and more freedom from government bureaucracy.
WE DO NOT WANT:
Universal Health Care Reform:
* We do not want Government run, single-payer health care. * We do not want “pre-death” counseling. * We do not want to discourage bright young people from going into health care. * We do not want higher taxes on anyone to pay for uninsured, which will reduce investment and innovation. * We do not want health care to pay for abortions. * We do not want a new health care system to replace Medicare or steal $500 million from Medicare. * We DO want medical TORT REFORM!
Higher National Debt and Taxes:
* We do not want more “stimulus” and more debt. * We do not want more “bail outs.” * We do not want any more taxes of any kind—we want reduced federal spending * We do not want to “grow” the size of the Government—it needs to be drastically reduced! * We do want you to vote against any new stimulus or funding as recently recommended by the President.
Higher Cost Energy:
* We do not want “cap and trade” which will drive up taxes, energy costs, and unemployment. * We DO want more drilling for oil in the U.S. and off shore, and more development of natural gas. * We DO want more development of nuclear power. * We DO want more utilization of our coal reserves. * We DO support alternative, renewal energy sources, but only after they are developed and can replace current energy sources. * We DO need to keep oil, gas, coal as our primary sources of energy. * We do not want a moratoriam on drilling off shore. We need the oil and we need the employment.
Social Engineering:
* We do not want to overthrow the Defense of Marriage law. * We do not want same-sex marriage. * We do not want gays in the military. * We do not want any kind of gun control.
Illegal Immigrants:
* We do not want illegal aliens to receive citizenship or free health care. * We DO want to enforce immigration laws. * We support the Arizona law to identify and remove illegal aliens.
Union Organizing:
* We do not want “Card Checked” to empower union organizing. * We DO want to cut down the amount of money unions can use for political purposes. The example of spending in Arkansas is an example of excess. * We DO want to curtail the power of “government” or public sector unions which are driving up retirement costs of U.S., State, and local government employees, which WE will have to pay for.
An example of your failure to listen to your constituents is your vote against Senator Murkowski’s amendment to limit EPA’s action on Greenhouse gases, which will cost jobs and raise taxes. You just do not care!
Senator Warner, you were a fairly conservative Governor of Virginia. Why have you endorsed the socialist agenda of the liberal left? You should be independent and standing up for fiscal constraint and balanced budgets. There is nothing in your web site that indicates that you are leading on the important issues facing us today. You have stood by while “Rome” has been burning!
Senator Webb, you have been out to lunch. While we have been experiencing the greatest recession since the great depression you have not been involved in solving the problems. Instead, you have been busy with your own agenda of GI Bill, correction reform, military benefits, and blindly supporting Harry Reid. As important as your projects might be, they miss the boat as being the most important issues now before the U.S. Senate and the country. Your web site is also void of urgent, important actions.
You both are a disappointment to Virginia. I hope you are starting to get the message.
This afternoon at the RPV Advance... in front of 700 attendees.... I was proud to accept on your behalf the award for Best Unit in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The award was presented to Fairfax County by Chairman Pat Mullins along with Governor-elect Bob McDonnell, Lt Governor Bill Bolling, and Attorney General-elect Ken Cuccunelli.

Thank you to everyone who came up to DC to attend our 2nd Annual “An Evening on Capitol Hill” event this past Thursday and made it a HUGE success. We had over 100 people in attendance and raised $12,000 for FCRC that will go to help get our three Congressional candidates elected in November. Check out the Washington Post blogspot for this event: voices.washingtonpost.com/virginiapolitics/2010/07/fairfax_republicans_mingle_wit.html
I also want to thank Congressmen McCarthy, Rogers, Ryan, Shimkus, Wilson, Wolf and Cantor for attending and speaking at this great event.
